How to Prepare
A little preparation helps your appointment go smoothly. Please review the checklist below before your visit.
- Avoid retinoids, exfoliating acids, and harsh actives for about a week before your appointment.
- Avoid sun exposure, and do not come in with a sunburn or an active breakout in the treatment area.
- Skip blood thinners, fish oil, and vitamin E for several days, and avoid alcohol for 24 hours.
- Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin and tell us if you are prone to cold sores or have any active skin infection.
Recovery Timeline
Here is what to expect as you heal and your results settle in.
Day of treatment
Your skin will look flushed and feel warm and tight, much like a mild to moderate sunburn.
First 24 to 48 hours
Avoid makeup, sweating, and active skincare. Use only a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen.
Days 2 to 4
Redness fades and the skin may feel dry or flake lightly as it renews. Keep it hydrated and protected from the sun.
Weeks 1 to 4
New collagen forms, gradually improving tone, texture, pores, and the look of scars or fine lines.
Ongoing
A series of three to six sessions spaced about a month apart gives the best results, with maintenance a few times a year.

Most patients experience mild redness similar to a sunburn for 24 to 48 hours. Normal activities can usually be resumed the next day.
